Questions people ask
How much tax do I pay on a NPR 1,00,000 salary in Nepal?
On NPR 1,00,000 a month with no retirement fund, FY 2083/84 tax comes to NPR 30,000 for the year — NPR 2,500 withheld each month, leaving NPR 97,500 in hand.
The first NPR 10,00,000 of taxable income is charged at 1%, and the rest at 10%. Change the salary above and every figure follows.
How is salary tax calculated in Nepal?
Annual assessable income is your pay plus your employer's retirement contribution; reliefs come off that; the remainder runs through the bands; and the result is spread across the months you worked.
The employer's contribution is a taxable benefit, which is the step most calculators skip. PF/SSF and CIT then share one NPR 5,00,000 relief ceiling — CIT only gets the room the mandatory contribution leaves behind.
What is my net salary after tax in Nepal?
Net salary is gross pay minus the tax withheld and your own retirement contribution — on NPR 1,00,000 a month with no fund that is NPR 97,500 a month, or NPR 11,70,000 for the year.
Net salary, net income, take-home and in-hand all mean the same figure in a Nepali payslip conversation: what reaches the bank. This is a net salary calculator as much as a tax one — the tool above shows the tax and the net side by side, because the second is the number anyone actually plans around.
Does joining the SSF lower my tax?
Yes. An SSF member does not pay the 1% Social Security Tax band, so the same NPR 1,00,000 salary is taxed NPR 17,920 less a year — NPR 12,080 instead of NPR 30,000.
A Provident Fund member still pays that band. The employer's 20% SSF contribution is also money building in your name, which is why the offer with the smaller gross often wins.
How is salary tax calculated in Nepal?
On the fiscal year, not the month. Add your annual pay and your employer's retirement contribution, subtract the reliefs you qualify for, then run what is left through the bands: 1% up to NPR 10,00,000, then 10%, 20%, 27% and 29%. Your employer withholds a share monthly as TDS.
Is salary tax calculated on basic salary or gross salary?
On gross. Every cash payment from the employment is assessable income: basic, grade, dearness and other allowances, overtime and the festival bonus. Basic salary only decides how much PF or SSF is contributed — it does not limit what is taxed.
How much tax do I pay on a NPR 1,00,000 monthly salary?
An SSF member with basic at 60% of gross pays NPR 1,007 a month — NPR 12,080 for the year — under FY 2083/84 rules. With no retirement fund at all, the same salary pays NPR 2,500 a month, because the 1% band is no longer waived.
When does Nepal's tax year start and end?
Nepal's fiscal year runs from Shrawan 1 to the end of Ashad — roughly mid-July to mid-July. FY 2083/84 began on Shrawan 1, 2083 (mid-July 2026). Income is assessed for that whole year, which is why joining or leaving mid-year changes your tax.
